This is where most care careers begin. Over 38 weeks, you’ll learn how to support clients in aged care, disability, and community settings - always with the individual’s needs at the centre. The course covers 1,200 hours of learning in total, including 300 hours of face-to-face classroom training and 120 hours of real work placement in an actual care environment.

You won’t just be reading about person-centred care - you’ll be doing it. BLC’s dedicated Aged Care Simulation Lab means you get hands-on practice before your placement begins, so you step into the workplace feeling prepared, not nervous. Graduates from this course go on to work as aged care workers, disability support workers, and respite care workers.

CHC43121 – Certificate IV in Disability Support

Once you’ve built your foundation, this qualification takes you deeper into disability-specific support. You’ll develop skills in promoting independence, supporting community participation, and working with people using a strengths-based approach - meaning you focus on what people can do and build from there. Like the Certificate III, this course includes 120 hours of practical placement, so real workplace experience is built into your qualification from day one.

CHC52021 – Diploma of Community Services

This is the leadership-level qualification in the healthcare pathway. The Diploma covers case management, social support coordination, and community services leadership - preparing you to take on senior roles or supervisory positions within the sector. It includes 200 hours of work placement, the highest placement load across all three courses, reflecting how much real-world experience matters at this level.
